This highway commences on the coast east of Bega and travels in a north westerly direction over the high country
in Kosciuszko National Park and onto its junction with the Hume Highway about 17km north of Tarcutta and about 54 km
east of Wagga. It passes through the principal towns of Bega, Cooma, Tumut and Adelong.
It is dual lane and sealed, has some steep and narrow sections, has some overtaking lanes mainly towards either end
rather than in the more centre isolated National Park section.

parking adjacent. One caravan was noted driving over kerb and parking on grass near facilities.
