VICTORIAN BORDER near RENMARK (west along the Murray) to MORGAN.



  This east west route as far as Morgan covers part of the route we took, following, as far as practical, the Murray River.
  It is dual lane sealed.
  Note. In general, roadside parking is only signed when it's on your left side. Not sure why, but guess to stop
  one crossing to the other side of the road against oncoming traffic. This means, however, that parking spots on
  the opposite side of the highway, to which we travelled, may be missed in these notes.

0 km (147.1 km) Victorian / South Australia border. There is a parking area on the north side.
  Also, 0.4 km back in Victoria, there is a similar area on the south side.

  Looks similar to following area on the north side .. maybe no slope, maybe further from road.

  Sealed parking bay also now signed "no camping". There is a theory from local travellers that on the recent sale of
  the council owned Renmark caravan park, part of the contract may have been for the council to stop camping in a number
  of parks in the shire. Apparently, the signs appeared around the time of the sale!

  Towards the city centre there is signed "long vehicle" (caravan) parking in a loop in the median strip.
  Woolworths is in the next side street to the left.

  Continue ahead to travel to Morgan. We also took the route via Crawford Terrace to various spots ..
  Martins Bend camp spot, across the Berri bridge and left to Lyrup, across the Berri bridge and ahead to
  Loxton, Moorook (great spot), and rejoin the Sturt Highway just west of the Kingston Bridge.

  Crawford Terrace 0.7 km down to the river turning left into Riverview Drive. The info centre is ahead on the right.
  Continue along Riverview Drive following signs to Martins Bend .. 3.7 km from info centre to caretakers cottage.
  Free camping is permitted on side of road away from river and past the caretakers cottage. This is a pity as there
  appeared to be lots of unused space on the river side of the road which gave better access to, and view of the river.
  Facilities spread over a large area .. some parking amongst trees .. overhanging branches .. some sandy patches.

  Large level dirt parking area. Apparently, there are other spots further along road towards the point.

  a park, toilets etc in town. Just before the ferry we turned left to look at the boat ramp, but
  parking space at the ramp was minimal .. maybe OK for a small rig. We turned back to junction.

  The northen entrance looked sandy, the southern appeared to travel in to beside a lagoon .. not investigated.
