NOTE, APRIL '06 .. THE SUMMERLAND WAY NORTH TO WARWICK WAS TRAVELLED AGAIN .. NOW WRITTEN UP MORE COMPLETELY UNDER SUMMERLAND WAY.

ESSENTIALLY, JUST PARKING (CAMPING) SPOTS.

* TELEGRAPH POINT .. about 0.5 km south of bridge, turn west into Pembroke
Rd., follow road back north and parallel to highway. There is a boat ramp,
lots of facilities and parking at the end. We parked on the western side of
the entrance road.
Class 3. 31° 19.729'S. 152° 47.749'E. Mema map 25, K 12.
Facilities noted above. 50m from highway, so noisy, OK big rigs.

* HAT HEAD HOLIDAY (CARAVAN) PARK .. HAT HEAD.
Class 1. 31° 03.385'S. 153° 03.187'E. Hema map 5, J 12.
Usual caravan park facilities, ? dump point/sullage, OK medium size rigs,
? big rigs. $16.50 pn. With seniors/pensioners disc. $15.00 pn.

* CLYBUCCA ROAD HOUSE .. BP 24 hours .. west side of highway.
Class 2. 30° 56.338'S. 152° 56.566'E. Hema map 25, J 12.
Usual road house facilities, pay showers, picnic area, water at grassed area
south of diesel pumps .. suggest best parking in dead end east east of this
spot. Big rigs should use drive through area at rear. EXTREMELY noisy all
night with trucks using the facility .. also, fuel tankers unloading!

EUNGAI AREA .. about 1 km west of highway .. about 12 km north of Clybucca.
Investigate for possible parking spots, ? near railway.

PADDY'S REST .. west side of highway, corner of Allgomera Rd.
Class 2?. Hema map 25, H 12.
Toilets, tables, water, BBQ, 75m max from highway, OK big rigs as circular
drive through .. additional parking to south.

* THE PINES .. National Park .. no fee .. best entrance from north via Scotts
Head Rd., then Forest Drive. Entrance from south was reported worse. Parking
among 100 ft or more high Pine trees .. 4.3 km from Scotts Head Rd.
Class 1. 30° 47.169'S. 152° 56.988'E. Hema map 25, H 12.
Toilets, tables, ALL ! shade, BBQ, quiet, mossies!, medium size rigs had a
problem with overhanging branches on entry road.

* GUMMA CROSSING RESERVE .. from Macksville, head east on road south of river,
follow signs .. gravel road (corrugated) .. turn left when road reaches
river bank .. follow narrow track beside river about 1 km to reserve.
Fee $5.50 pn, $33 pw collected every few days by security.
Class 1. 30° 42.377'S. 152° 59.004'E. Hema map 25, H 12.
Toilets, some shade, fireplaces, rubbish bins, no noise, OK big rigs in
reserve, but overhanging branches and narrow entrance road may be a problem.
On edge of river, boat ramp, popular with fishermen.

* URANGA .. JOY MITCHELL PARK REST AREA ..turn off west at info centre, follow
road down and to right, park on right & opposite restaurant.
Class 2. 30° 29.568'S. 153° 00.829'E. Hema map 25, G 12.
Toilets, shade, rubbish bins, noisy as underneath approaches and between
road & rail bridge, OK medium size rigs.

WATERFRONT AREA .. beside caravan park & opposite hotel.
Class 5. 30° 29.706'S. 153° 01.363'E. Hema map 25, G 12.
Tables, shade, water to north of paved parking area opposite hotel, fire-
places and wood, rubbish bins. OK big rigs. Good fish & chips (locals
patronise) on right hand side going up the main street.

Coffs Harbour north to Grafton via both Lower Bucca or Coramba, thence Nana
Glen, Glenreagh to Grafton .. with a diversion along Grafton Armidale Rd., to
Coutts Crossing and on to a nice parking spot at GOOLONG CREEK.

LOWER BUCCA .. road north of main road .. ? reserve .. investigate.

GLENREACH .. just south of town .. side road to west .. ? showground or
reserve ..investigate.
HOTEL .. parking opposite in side street to east, ? OK for overnight with
permission.

GOOLONG CREEK .. Grafton - Armidale Rd. Medium size grassy area beside creek.
24.3 km past Glenreagh turn off, through Coutts Crossing, just before a
bridge, east side of road.
Class 1. 29° 54.466'S. 152° 47.192'E. Hema map 25, F 12.
Some shade, water from creek, BBQ, rubbish bin, 50m from road (some trucks
during night, mainly after 5 am.), parking OK for big rigs but narrow
entrance from main road may be a problem.

We have used two routes to the north via Pacific Hwy. to Ballina or via
Summerland way to Casino, Kyogle, Woodenbong and Killarney in Qld. (near Warwick).
NOTE: April 2006. We travelled the Summerland Way again. It's now written up under Summerland Way).

Grafton to Ballina via Pacific Highway.

* NEW ITALY. Pacific Hwy., west side. Rest area parking is in front of museum
complex. Better (quieter) parking along side road to north of complex.
We parked adjacent to the side of museum building. There is also a small
area on the north corner of this road, but close to highway.
Class 2. 29° 09.185'S. 153° 17.902'E. Hema map 25, D 13.
Usual large rest area facilities, kiosk, big rigs would need to take care.

TRUCK PARKING AREA .. 15 km south of Ballina .. both sides of highway, but east
side has a row of trees between it and highway .. maybe the better one?
Class 3. 28° 56.071'S. 153° 28.323'E. Hema map 25, C 14.
Very close to highway., suggest very noisy all night, big rigs OK.

Grafton to Casino, Kyogle, Woodenbong and Killarney via Summerland Way.

REST AREA .. about 30 km south of Casino .. east side of Summerland Way.
Class 2. 29° 05.276'S. 153° 00.090'E. Hema map 25, C 12.
Toilet, tables, shade, water, BBQ, rubbish bins, 75m max from road, OK big
rigs .. large circular area.

0 km CASINO .. SHOWGROUND .. 1.5 km south of Tenterfield turn off, east side.
Class 2, with council permission, phone council on 66600237 or at 68 Walker
St. Guess a fee applies. Not available when other events scheduled.
Class 1. 28° 53.055'S. 153° 02.724'E. Hema map 25, C 13.
Toilets, power, DUMP POINT, water, should be quiet, OK big rigs.

1.5 km BRUXNER Hwy. and Tenterfield to west.

2.2 km CASINO .. following Centre St. .. centre of city.

3.6 km ROUNDABOUT .. BRUXNER Hwy. and Lismore to east. For Kyogle and the
Summerland Way turn west, then next north.

36.9 km KYOGLE.

51.4 km WIANGAREE .. shop on western side of road, small parking area
opposite.

92.7 km MT. LINDSAY HWY. JUNCTION

97.6 km WOODENBONG.
WOODENBONG CAMPING AREA .. rear of swimming pool and bordering on a creek.
Class 1, fee applies. 28° 23.3'S. 152° 36.40'E. Hema map 25, A 12.
All facilities, should be quiet, OK big rigs.

146.9 km NSW - QLD BORDER.

153 km approx. KILLARNEY. Warwick is 43 km to the NW.
