MARLBOROUGH to SARINA .. INLAND ROUTE.
Interesting alternative route .. about 40 km longer than main (coastal)
highway. This was the original highway., lots of interesting stories re its isolation,
being closed during floods (gates still exist) and people stranded, also a
couple of murders .. all going back a number of years now. Two lane sealed,
but bumpy (undulations) .. more so with solidly spung vehicles like some
motorhomes, 4 WD's etc.

(near) Balook to Oxford Downs Road.
Sealed road, but about 50% single lane .. follows railway line.
There are a number of potential parking spots on service road running near
the railway line and short tracks between that service road and the main road.
These would be noisy due to rail traffic which runs 24 hrs. per day.
