This route traverses the centre part of Tasmania from south to north. It passes to the west of Great Lake.
It is dual lane and sealed apart from the unsealed section to the south and to the west of Great Lake.
ALSO, B51 from near ARTHURS LAKE to near LONGFORD.
Associated with the A5 and covered at the end of this A5 section is the B51,
from its junction with the A5 near Arthurs Lake north to the B52 near Longford.
