(near) RAVENTHORPE TO ARMADALE (near Perth). BROOKTON (40) HIGHWAY.
This essentially east west route provides the shortest way between the Esperence/Ravensthorpe area to Perth.
It is now dual lane sealed apart from some intermittent single lane sections between Hyden and Corrigin.
Note. In general, roadside parking is only signed when it's on your left side. Not sure why, but guess to stop
one crossing to the other side of the road against oncoming traffic. This means, however, that parking spots on
the opposite side of the highway, to which we travelled, may be missed in these notes.

3.4 km (506.2 km) Signed rest area .. east side. Gravel tracks amongst trees. Big rigs should use the northern
entrance which is clear of trees and gives access to best (in the clear) parking .. turning area towards rear.
Behind that turning area there is a lot more space suitable low vehicles .. overhanging trees!

Opposite that junction, on south side, is a medium size gravel pit .. we had lunch there.
