144.9 km (143.8 km) BURNIE .. main town entrance at traffic lights.
------------------------------
We travelled into Burnie city on a Sunday afternoon, thus not much traffic. We found the city area
not really suitable for medium size motorhomes, narrow and congested streets, parking meters .. my "pet
hate", parking fees at council car park, etc. The city centre boundries are confined by the ocean, wharf
area and highway .. thus, I guess, the congested city.
UPDATE .. Info from another motorhomer is that the Info Centre in Burnie will give a free 2 hour parking
pass for their parking area. The info centre was noted in the western extremity of the Burnie
business district.

Toilets, rubbish bins towards dump point. OK big rigs, 600m from highway, but local traffic at
daybreak, good TV.
UPDATE .. on a second visit to this rather nice / convenient camp spot we arrived on a
Sunday. Monday, around 9am, had a visit from council. Their regulations dictate that area may be
used only if caravan parks are full (he didn't know how we were meant to determine this), no waste
water (grey) was to be dumped, no cats or dogs. He seemed as happy as a government man can get when
assured we were compiling. NOTE .. good idea along NW Tassie coast NOT to discharge grey water.
1.0 km DUMP POINT .. past cattle sale yards and south of City of Burnie waste water treatment plant.

[5.1 km]
157.7 km (131.0 km) WYNYARD turn off .. signed Wynyard 6 km.
------------------------------
Travelling west via Wynyard town .. the road, which I suspect was the original highway, essentially
follows the coast line to near the town centre. There are possible parking spots along the foreshore
and wharf area. The town centre is rather congested with small roundabouts, so anything much larger than
medium size motorhomes could be a problem. This route rejoins the Bass highway to the west of the town.

on headland. Caretaker/ supervisor of parks etc etc lives in house on right as one enters
second area .. he says grey water SHOULD NOT be discharged in this part of Tasmania .. he
has "warned" other motorhomes .. and suggests some should/could be fined "to get the message
across". I suggested some prior publicity could be in order!
